AREAS OF OVERSIGHT
ASSIMILATION: Initiates conversations with newer attendees about the gospel, discusses baptism and membership with those interested in those steps, and helps link members to ministry and discipleship opportunities.
All pastors are intentional to introduce themselves to newer attendees and facilitate relational connections. The pastor who has oversight of these efforts spends more time meeting with such individuals and families, whether 1:1 or in group settings, in an effort to connect them more deeply to the body of Christ so that we can collectively live out the “one another’s” of Scripture. Core functions include: being the primary leader of the “Discovering Open Arms” workshop; initiating personal conversations about baptism and membership with anyone interested in those steps; and linking new members to the ministry opportunities and social connections that are most relevant to their interests, capabilities, and disposition.
OUTREACH/EVANGELISM: Trains and equips the church body to share the gospel with those whom they know, and meets personally with those who indicate an interest in learning more about Jesus.
All pastors reach out to their community with the gospel and stand ready to explain it to anyone who asks. The pastor who has oversight of these efforts has a particular passion and spiritual gifting for explaining the good news of salvation offered through Jesus Christ to those who have not yet believed upon Him, that they too may be adopted into the family of God. Core functions include: leading by example by being actively involved in personal evangelism whenever God presents opportunities; training and equipping others in the church body to confidently share the gospel with those they know; and meeting with anyone who conveys an interest in learning more about Jesus.
MULTIPLICATION: Invests in OAC ministry leaders, leads out in church planting activity, and mentors church planters, all for the goal of expanding the Kingdom of God throughout the region.
The pastor who has oversight of multiplication plays a strategic role in investing in those who themselves are heavily involved in influencing others, with the long-term goal of seeing a sustained and widespread expansion of the kingdom of God. Core functions include: being a catalyst for church planting activity and mentoring those who are called to lead out in those efforts; actively assisting OAC ministry leaders in areas of both personal and ministerial growth; and engaging in meaningful ways with others in ministry throughout the region
