CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES
Nursery / Childcare (ages 3 & under)
Why: The purpose of the nursery/childcare ministry is to provide responsible and loving care in a safe, clean environment to the infant and toddler children of the parents/guardians attending Sunday morning worship services. The nursery/childcare ministry also serves as a vehicle to communicate elementary concepts regarding God’s love to children. At any time during the service, nursing mom’s are welcomed to pick up their infants and go down the hallway to the nursing mother’s room. This one-way mirrored room in the back of the worship center allows moms to meet the needs of their infants while not missing a moment of the worship service.
When: Nursery/Childcare is available each Sunday during the 10:00am worship service. Sign-in begins by 9:50am. A registration form including cell phone numbers, is required for all new infants and toddlers. Parents are asked to keep their cell phones on vibrate. Upon registration, the parent or guardian will receive a numbered card. If their little one needs assistance, the nursery volunteers will text the parent. If for some reason the text does not go through, the child's number will appear at the front of the worship center via a digitally displayed box. The numbered card will be needed to pick up the infant/toddler at the conclusion of the service.
Who: Our Sunday morning nursery/childcare workers are volunteer adult or teenage members of Open Arms (background check certified). Each service is staffed by at least two qualified nursery workers. Our Nursery team members serve one week a month for the year (12 weeks a year). This rotation allows our workers to experience corporate worship three-fourths of the year.

Kids' Church (4 yrs old - 4th grade)
Why: Children are very important to God and to Open Arms Church! Our Sunday morning Kids Church is an interactive program created just for kids ages 4 yrs to 4th grade (one class for 4 yrs - K, and another class for 1st-4th graders). We teach about Jesus and the Bible in a fun and relevant way. Open Arms’ children ministry seeks to assist parents in teaching their children about God.
When: Kids Church runs simultaneously with the 10:00am worship service. Sign-in begins by 9:50am. This allows parents and/or guardians to experience the worship service without distraction, and with the confidence that their children are experiencing a fun and safe environment in church at an age appropriate level. Parents are requested to pick-up their children upon the conclusion of the service.

Each group is run by a team who are held accountable in the areas of classroom preparation and Christian lifestyle. Our Kids Church team members serve one week a month for the year (12 weeks a year). 5th & 6th grade class
Why: As children transition from childhood to their teenage years, we recognize the uniqueness of their temperaments and their need for teaching that is delivered at an age-appropriate level. We use a curriculum called “The Gospel Project” which walks through major portions of the Bible, showing how the whole Bible points to Jesus and what He has done for us. The class includes age-appropriate & interactive teaching, videos, and activities. Our aim is also to prepare them to engage in the youth group (for 7th-12th graders) so that they continue to grow in the Lord and together with each other.
When: 5th & 6th graders stay with their family to attend the beginning of the 10am worship service. Immediately following the corporate singing time, they will be invited to leave and make their way to the last room on the left in the education wing. Parents do not need to sign students in or out of the class; they will be dismissed at the end of the worship service.
Who: Our 5th & 6th grade teachers love God and know how to interact with this age group. Each class is run by a pair of leaders who are held accountable in the areas of classroom preparation and Christian lifestyle. Our teachers serve one week a month for the year (12 weeks a year). This rotation allows our workers to experience corporate worship three-fourths of the year.
