H.O.P.E.
There are many things that we can put our hope in. Some are simple: we can hope that our favorite team wins the championship, we can hope the stain will come out of our favorite shirt, or we can hope that our local ice cream place has the flavor we love. Some are deeper: we can hope to find a lifelong companion, we can hope to get a raise at work, or we can hope to avoid a critical illness.
The Bible, particularly in the Psalms, speaks much of hope, but notice the object of biblical hope: "Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who hope in His steadfast love." (Psalm 33:18) "Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise Him, my salvation and my God." (Psalm 42:11) "For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from Him." (Psalm 62:5) "You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your Word." (Psalm 119:114)

Helping Others, Providing Encouragement
We all need hope: "Hope deferred makes the heart sick." (Proverbs 13:12). But a sports team, high-quality detergent, or ice cream cannot meet our deepest needs: only God can. The pages of Scripture, which explain God's gift of salvation to all those who put their trust in Christ alone for redemption, reveal that God alone is the only One worthy of our hope. And once we know Him, and we come to understand His love for all people, we embrace the opportunity to Help Others and Provide Encouragement.
Maybe what brought you to this website was a need. If so, we invite you to reach out to those whom you know at Open Arms to share that need and allow the body of Christ to come alongside you.
Others of you came to this site because you want to point others to the hope of Christ, and you have a desire to do so through practical intervention. In addition to anticipating needs within our own church family, Open Arms has recently become a formal partner with the CDC and SBC Disaster Relief to help meet the needs of those in our community, so needs will also be funneled through those agencies to our church. We foresee having opportunities to serve others by shopping, delivering food or other essential resources, and/or simply by maintaining regular contact with those who might be in need. Please rest assured that no person-to-person contact would need to happen: any deliveries will be left outside the front door, and all times of prayer and encouraging communication will take place by phone.
