City Mission of Schenectady

Open Arms Church has been an active partner with the City Mission of Schenectady for many years, both corporately and individually. There are two initiatives that we are currently involved in on a group basis:
1. Serving meals. On the last Tuesday of each month, a team of up to 21 people gathers at the dining center on the City Mission campus to help serve dinner (5-7pm). Register to participate using this link: http://openarms.citymissionofschenectady.volunteerhub.com/ 2. Weekend Backpack Program (WBP) - an initiative to send food home with local schoolchildren over the weekend who would not otherwise have access to adequate meals. There are two ways to get involved in the WBP: a) Join with 8-10 others the first Monday of most months to assemble bags of food at the Distribution Center from 6-7:30pm. Register to participate using this link: http://openarms.citymissionofschenectady.volunteerhub.com/ b) Be one of the drivers to transport boxes of food from the Distribution Center to Schalmont MS and Jefferson ES on Thursday mornings from 8:45am-9:30am. |
